Rydel Long Term Care Planning was born out of frustration. My father had vascular dementia and after years of caring for him at home and watching my mothers health deteriorate, as a family we made the difficult and heart-wrenching decision that it was time to move Dad into long term care.
Luckily I am not an only child so along with my sister and brother we began the arduous journey to find the right home for Dad.
However, although we went armed with what we thought was a thorough check-list of what to look for, we soon realized we were out of our depth and needed help.
And while there are many helpful and informative organizations such as the Alzheimers Society and the Community Care Access Centre, there was no one organization that could guide us through the entire range of issues, informing us of all the decisions we were unaware needed to be made, let alone provide personalized support for our particular situation.
We had to learn the hard way, yet so many lessons were unnecessarily difficult and placed undue hardship on our family and especially on Dad. Trying to navigate through all of this was physically exhausting, emotionally draining and completely frustrating. Throughout, we kept looking for outside help, for a one stop shop, able to provide resources, information and support, but found no one.
And so the seeds for Rydel Long Term Care Planning were sown. If you are looking for a nursing home or long term care solution, our goal is to provide the kind of guidance we lacked, helping you navigate the system better than we did, increasing the odds that your experience will be a positive one.
