Our Services Print E-mail

To place a senior in a nursing home or long term care facility you must submit an application to your local Community Care Access Centre.

If you need an emergency placement you are given a choice of homes, usually provided on the basis of immediate availability rather than quality of care, and are given a limited time to choose.  If you are requesting emergency placement then you are likely in crisis and may not have the resources or time to make an informed choice.  This is where we can help.

If you do not ask for emergency placement then you have more time to find the right home, but the onus is still on you to explore your options, do your own homework, check the homes, and make a decision.  With hundreds of homes in the GTA this  task can quickly overwhelm you.  Rydel can help.

We provide the following services to make your life easier:

Free Initial Consultation

Every client gets a free initial consultation.  This consultation is an important part of getting to know you, your loved one, your circumstances and your particular needs.  We also use this consultation to explain our range of services.  You can then choose which services you need.

Analysis and Solution Reports

After your consultation we provide you with in-depth analysis and reports, recommending nursing homes to fit your circumstances and requirements.  With hundreds of nursing homes in the GTA this saves you time and frustration.

Home Inspections

Nursing home inspections are a critical part of finding the right home and quality of care.  We book inspections and visit the nursing homes with you.  We can help by telling you what to look for, by asking the right questions, by pointing out the strengths and hidden flaws of each home.  Sometimes it helps to have someone with you who can offer the benefit of experience.

If you don't have time to review and inspect homes we can inspect homes for you and provide you with detailed reports.

Visitation and Reports

After choosing a home for your loved one you may not be able to visit and see how they're doing in their new home, which may often be the case if you don't live in the area or lead a busy lifestyle.  We can help by regularly visiting your elder and providing you with reports on their well-being.  We can even pass on  messages and gifts for you, letting them know you care!

Advice

Additionally, we offer information you will need to know as you go through this difficult transition period.  Often people are unaware a solution exists for a given problem.  There are also a wide range of often unexpected practical, financial and legal issues you will need to deal with.

To help you during your time of transition we have three information kits which we customize to suit your individual needs:

  • Information Kit
  • Planning Kit
  • Preparedness Kit

We also offer a wide range of literature from local resources, and provide an online bookstore filled with many books we recommend on such topics as dementia, Alzheimer's and long term care planning.

Support

Designed for those who are busy, physically challenged, disabled, or who might experience language and cultural barriers, we also provide all of our services in meetings with families and caregivers, through in-home visits or after-hours consultations.

Additional support might take the form of helping you with nursing home paperwork and documentation, participating in meetings between you and nursing home staff, doing specialized research, or simply being there when you need us.

Whatever your needs, we'll be happy to accommodate you.

Referrals

We have an existing relationship with a variety of senior-friendly service providers, such as senior move managers, cleaning services, personal care providers and concierge services.   If you need something extra which nobody else can provide, chances are good that we can arrange it for you.
