Furniture Dangers
If a walker is being used you should move all furniture to the outer walls of each room, keeping an open space with fewer obstacles.
Any furniture such as glass coffee tables or anything with sharp corners should be removed as there is a danger of falling into or onto them.
Consider removing rocking chairs or chairs that can easily tip over. You may also want to remove footstools and storage boxes placed on the floor, as well as tables or pieces of furniture that are light or easy to trip over.
Also consider removing dangerous furniture early in the onset of dementia so the layout is still somewhat comfortable and familiar later.
